Art - I Just Don't Get It

Fashion and clothes that you don't wear and art that serves no purpose are both something that I don't get. My family and I went to an art museum to look at clothes designed by someone. I didn't understand it at all. My Dad and I walked around together and he helped explain some of it to me. He said that some fashion is made because no one else has ever made it. and it is also made to impress and to catch the eye. He related it to my jewelry some. Saying , "Look at that dress right there, see how parts of it just come right off at like right angles and don't fold naturally? Think about your jewelry . What can you make that imitates that dress? Maybe you could make a bracelet where part of it comes off of your wrist. Look at art fashion and clothes that you don't wear as ideas and new designs for your jewelry just waiting to happen." I still don't get why people make stuff like that but now I look at it with new eyes.

!Yo hablo en Espanol! (un poco)

That translates to........I speak Spanish! (a little)I've been taking Spanish in at my school, and this week can you believe what we've been learning. STORES AND JEWELRY (or in Spanish: Tiendas y Joyas). Here is what I know:
  • Bracelets- pulseras
  • Necklaces-colleras
  • Rings-anillos
  • Earrings-aretes
  • gold-oro
  • silver-plata
I feel soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo smart! Also we had this project in Spanish were we had to create a Spanish style store front with a window showing what we were selling. Can you guess what kind if store we had? You probably guessed it.......a jewelry store or in Spanish: Joyeria. Our store was called Joyeria de Claireacciones (That translates to the jewelry store of Claireations), so I got to show off a lot of my jewelry in school! It was/is pretty awesome!!!!!!!!!

Brain Dead

Some people call it writers block. Some people call it a brain fart. I call it I-can't-think-of-anything-in-the-world-and-I-am-having-issues...or brain dead for short. I am brain dead!...There is no other way to describe it except brain dead. I can't think of anything to write so I'm telling you this. This happens often...more often than I would like. When ever this happens I always go to my favorite jewelry blogs or websites to try to get my creative juices flowing down the path to great ideas. I've already told you about www.vintaj.com and www.etsy.com. In the post about inspiration I should have told you that I get most of my Ideas from those two websites...guess I forgot...again. There are also some good blogs out there. Vintaj has a blog (find it linked to their website). now I know there are other blogs out there. I just don't know any of them ;) . All three of these websites have helped me tons in the past I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Arm Party

(This is an original idea from "The Man Repeller" blogist) (www.manrepeller.com)

Let's party with jewelry! An arm party (for those of you who are new to this totally neat concept) is when one wears more then one bracelet at a time (and the are coordinated in some fashion like way that has seemed to slip my mind!?

Often bracelets such as the three-stripped friendship bracelet or the bottle top bracelet or the simply squiggles bracelet are often used in an arm party. Simple bracelets such as those work well together. Charm bracelets do not go in an arm party for they are to big, to bulky, and to jangly. Oh, also wear a bracelet on the opposite arm from your party so as to balance the fashion/jewelry.

Center of attention

A necklace should always have that one bead or charm that stands out from the others. I call them the center of attention, for that special piece should be the largest and in the middle of a set (like have three beads on each side of one or two charms like sea shore pearls").
When someone looks at your jewelry you want their eyes drawn to a certain piece you don't want them to be confused on what they are supposed to be looking at. Slowly graduate the beads or charms toward that center of attention.

Inspiration

Inspiration
It can come from anywhere. Whether it's from antique stores or magazines and handouts. I use everything I can to help come up with ideas, even my own jewelry.

I keep two books on them. One is a detailed procedure with a large picture of the full piece of jewelry. The other is a small album of multiple pictures at different angles of the jewelry.

I also use small free handouts from Hobby Lobby. They provide ideas, procedures, and pictures of different jewelry and tools. They help me become Inspired to create what I love (jewelry).

The jewelry I've made in past years and from any store I go to provide me with ideas for different parts of jewelry. I won't always have the right beads to recreate a certain piece of jewelry so I improvise and create a similar recreation with what I have. I don't try to copy anything I see I only try use the jewelry I see to get inspired.

Inspiration can come from anywhere.

Christmas is Here

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
and a
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
The Christmas holiday is the perfect time for ideas and inspiration. The ornament on the bottom left corner is the perfect way to top off a present. Just tie a bow and attach the ornament to the present and show someone you care about them. The earrings and bracelet are other easy ideas for presents. They are easy to make, create, and wrap. Christmas is here so enjoy it.
